January 3. 2009

Today is my niece Whitney's 15th birthday. She lives in Georgia with her mom. I haven't seen her or heard from her since she was 2. Then out of the blue she called my cell phone tonight. It was great catching up with her. She gave me her myspace address so that we can keep in touch. I also wished her a happy birthday. She was surprised that I remembered because she didn't remember us. According to her dad, my brother-in-law, Whitney's mom never told her about any of us. Oh well. It's all okay now. As far as my quitting smoking goes I have had a relapse and had 10 cigarettes today. Which means I'll have to try harder tomorrow. It'll be okay. Thanks again for listening.

New year resolution 2009

Okay it's new years day. Our new years resolution is to quit smoking. Desi wants to quit cold turkey. I get migraine headaches so I want to gradually quit. I am going to try cutting down to 5 a day for this week. Then next week go to 4 and so on. Hopefully it will give my body enough time to readjust to the lack of nicotine. My goal is to be smoke free by January 30th. I will post everyday to help me keep track of everything. I'll track my moods, the number of cigarettes per day, how much more I'm eating, how busy I kept myself, and what triggered me to smoke at that time. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. We have tried using the patches and the gum. Neither one worked for me. The patch made my heart race, shortness of breath, and I constantly felt like panicking. But they worked for Desi. He didn't have the cravings at all with the patch on. Well here's to nothing wish us luck.

New Years Eve 2008-2009

Happy new year everyone. I hope everyone has a safe and fun day. I know we are. It is our family tradition to stay home eat junk food, watch movies, and play games then watch the ball go down. We have been doing that for years. I want to keep doing it until the kids leave home. After that we may decide to go out.

Okay so today was a great day!! My brother-in-law and his wife moved out finally. Like I said yesterday I love them and we have fun together but he does tend to get on the nerves after awhile. I'm sure they were excited also. I know what it's like to be living with family until you can bet back on your feet. It takes a toll on you. You constantly feel like you are worthless because you can't provide for your family the way they deserve to be taken care of. You feel like the worst person. It makes you really depressed and stressed out. You feel like you are walking on egg shells around the family members all the time wondering what they are really thinking and feeling. That's why we always told them when something was bothering us that way there was no tension between any of us. And as long as he would keep his mouth shut on a daily basis everything would be fine. Just kidding it wasn't that bad. I was actually expecting it to be hell on earth while they were here. It's nice to be wrong about those things.

Our Family

Okay maybe I should have introduced our family before I started venting. I am Charlene my husband is Desmond. He has a 20 year old daughter, Marissa, I have a 15 year old son, Zach, together we have a 10 year old son, Dustin, and a 9 year old daughter, Calli.

Desi and I have been married for 15 years. We met August 25, 1993 and we were married on November 23, 1993. It was the day before my 20th birthday. Our marriage is the first for both of us. Yeah us!!! I am 35 and Desi is 42.

Marissa is legally married to Bryan but they are in the process of a divorce. They are still friends which is good because they have 2 kids together. My grandson, Kile just turned 4 on Christmas Eve and my granddaughter, Mikaelah just turned 3 on October 8. Okay now it gets confusing. Marissa is engaged to Aaron and they live in Boise. Aaron has a 10 year old daughter Jasmine. Marissa is also pregnant with Aaron's baby girl. The baby is due on April 28. Now Bryan is engaged to Melissa (Mel) and they live in Olympia, Washington. Mel is pregnant with Bryan's baby. She is due on May 25 and we will find out she is having on January 2, 2009. Yeah!!!

Zach is 15 almost 16. He'll be 16 on February 12th. He is in the 9th grade again. He had to repeat because of his poor attendance last year. Dustin is 10. His birthday is March 16th. He is in the 5th grade. Calli is 9. Her birthday is April 14th. She is in the 3rd grade again. She was held back because the school said she wasn't capable of going on to the 4th grade because she needed extra help with her reading and math. Well the school was wrong. She is doing excellent in school and they have taken her extra help away. Her new school has retested her and said she is exactly right for her age.

Okay so that is our family in a nut shell. As you can see our house gets really full at times. Thanks for listening.

Waiting for promises to be kept

Okay so my brother-in-law and his wife were supposed to move out today. Yeah right!! They have the keys to their new apartment but they decided to stay another night. When they first came back from Colorado we told them they could stay for 1 week. That was on November 14, 2008. It's now December 30, 2008.

Okay don't get me wrong they are not that bad to be around. But come on we have a family of 5 with 2 dogs plus them and their 2 cats all in a 3 bedroom house with 1 bathroom. Yes my sister-in-law does help clean and cook. But my brother-in-law is a "know it all". Well he thinks he is anyways. It's impossible to watch a movie or a television show without him commenting on EVERYTHING!!!! It gets really annoying. If you don't like what you are watching then leave the room. Nobody is forcing you to stay and watch. He thinks his opinion is the only right one and that everyone wants to hear his opinion ALL of the time.

We have spent so much money on groceries since they have been here. I can do the grocery shopping for a week on $100. Since they have been here we are now spending $300 a week. It's ridiculous!!! Everyday we have to buy 2 gallons of milk and a 12 pack of coke plus dinner. We can't shop for the week because they eat what we have set aside for meals. And they don't bother to replace what they eat!!! Oh well it's only for 1 more day. Breathe in, breathe out, let the uglies go.

Anyway our son-in-law and his fiance are back from Phoenix with our grandson. They can only stay for 1 day because he has to work on New Years Day. It's really sad. They have to leave in the morning to go back to Olympia, Washington. That's okay because on Friday we will find out if she is having a boy or a girl. I can't wait. I'll explain their situation later.
